About T. J. Shope
T.J. Shope has a broad and diverse family background, rooted in his community. His grandmother and grandfather, Luisa and Jesse Salazar, have been a positive influence in T.J.'s life. Jesse worked for thirty-two years as a miner in both Superior and San Manuel and was a member of the United Steelworkers. T.J.'s other grandfather opened an independent grocery store in a small Arizona town sixty years ago. T.J. and his family continue to own, operate, and work in that store today.

It is important that we have people like T.J. at the State Capitol. He understands what people in his district need in order to be successful. He listens to them, and makes sure they have a proactive voice in the legislature. T.J. is a very impressive person, and reelecting him will make sure that ordinary people can have confidence that their needs are represented well. He has served his community for many years, including as a member and president of his local school board. He knows and understands what needs to be done to help his constituents.

T.J. has received recognition from all types of organizations because of his work at the capitol. He won the "Freshman of the Year" award from the Arizona Mining Association, was recognized as one of the "Tech Ten" legislators by the Arizona Technology Council, and many other impressive accolades. His commitment to finding real solutions to real problems is obvious, and those who know him recognize his strong work ethic, bright mind, and dedication to the people of his community.
